Nigeria Loses To Germany In Rio 2016 Olympics Men's Football Semi-Final Match
The Nigerian U-23 team today lost their Men’s football semi-final match to Germany, in the ongoing RIO 2016 Olympics.
The Germans cruised to a 2-nil victory as they took the lead in the 9th minute through Lukas Klostermann and from then on piled pressured on the Nigerian defensive line, leading to them looking shaky and lacking some solidity.
Nils Petersen doubled the Germans’ lead in the 89th minute after a stunning counter attack that left only Troost Ekong as the defensive cover for Nigeria’s goalkeeper.
The Nigerian U-23 team will now play Honduras for the bronze medal.
The Germans were the better side on the better team on the night in Sao Paulo as they defeated the African champions who will now settle for a bronze medal match.
Germany edged their way to a gold medal match against Brazil as they defeated Nigeria 2-0 at the Arena Corinthians in Sao Paulo on Wednesday.
